Riga Senior European Cup 2025

On day one of the Riga Senior European Cup 2025, there were big celebrations for the home crowd as Anthony DE ANGELIS of Latvia took the gold medal in the -66kg category.

This is my second gold medal in a tournament of this category, and I am very happy that I managed to repeat my success. I won my first gold in 2022, and now I have done it again. The feeling is fantastic!

Collecting his medals at this level is only one step, he has his sights set on a major as a senior now,

Now my focus is on the European Championships. I want to prepare seriously for it and win a medal in the senior category. So far, I have won two medals in the under-23 category, but my main goal this year is a medal in the senior competition – and I believe it can be gold!

A medal at home is always extra special, and he certainly appreciated the support,

Crowd support is very important! I heard that many people were cheering for me in the final, and that gave me extra motivation. I knew that losing was not an option – only winning! Today, my biggest motivation was the people who came to support me. Thank you all!
