Not only the new EJU Executive Board, President Dr. László TOTH, General Secretary Martin POIGER and General Treasurer Envic GALEA received standing ovations from the 100 Extraordinary Congress participants in Vienna, but also Austrian judoka Sabrina FILZMOSER; former 2-time European champion and World Championship bronze medallist. The 42 year-old just returned from her “Forever Everest” three-months adventure just a few days ago. She had started her journey in April, cycling from sea level in North India all the way to the Everest region, from there she walked all the way on top of Mount Everest (8.848 m), roof of the world. During her time in Nepal she also opened up two Judo schools (Monjo School, on an altitude of 2.850 m and Everest School, 4.000 m) and attended dozens of trainings at Orphanage homes. “The judo part was for me emotionally even more important than climbing the top of Everest”, tells Sabrina Filzmoser. “It’s a huge opportunity for the kids and they are incredible grateful of what we have done for them in the past months and years. Our judo programs are for sure a life-changer, to say the least.”
Sabrina Filzmoser is Vice President of the Austrian Judo Federation, that’s why she participated at the Extraordinary Congress in Vienna. On Monday she get’s back to her work at the Austrian police force.
