VETERAN EUROPEANS ATTRACTS 870 PARTICIPANTS

A total of 870 judoka from 33 countries will compete at the Veteran European Championships 2017 in Zagreb, Croatia. 741 men and 129 women will step on to the tatami June 15 to 17 at Dom Sportova. Croatia hosts the Veteran European Championships for the third time, but it is the first time the event comes to Zagreb.

The veterans aged from 30 years to over 80 years, divided in eleven age categories. The individual events will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The competition concludes Sunday with the team event. A live stream will be available on the EJU channel throughout the championship. Veteran sport plays an important role within the European Judo Union. EJU President, Sergey Soloveychik said;

“Veteran judo continues to grow and it is fitting for the Croatian Judo Federation and the city of Zagreb who regularly stage high quality judo events to host these championships. I am certain that these championships will meet the demanding standards set by the EJU both in terms of organization and facilities on offer”,
