Uzbekistan dominated the first day of the Coimbra Cadets European Cup, taking all the gold medals in the male weight categories. The day was perfect for all judo lovers as the Brazilian girls brought their joy to the party, taking 3 gold medals after winning the -44kg, 48kg and 52kg categories!
This is the first time we have come to Europe and we had good performances. Usually we go to other continents. We want to get to know the European countries because we usually only meet at world championships. We are really satisfied with the way the Portuguese Federation welcomed us. – said Tashmatov Abduvasik, Uzbekistan’s representative.
Brazil also came with a large squad to prepare for the World Championships and were very pleased with the high level they found in Coimbra.
We came from Brazil with 55 athletes with our head in the World Championships and to determine our best team for it. We had a great day, especially with the girls. The competition is very strong and we will stay for the training camp to make the most of our stay. – said Thiago Fernandes.
