UNFANCIED CASSE SNATCHES JUNIOR TITLE

A solid defensive and workmanlike performance saw Matthias CASSE (BEL) win the gold medal in the -81kg category on the third day of competition at the Junior World Championships being staged in Zagreb, Croatia. Casse went the distance in each of his five contests (three of which went into golden score). Importantly, however, the 20-year old Belgian managed to remain penalty free whenever it mattered. There was excitement and tension enough as Casse worked his way through a strong field. Yet when asked to step to another level, Casse responded positively and was a worthy and attractive (if not spectacular) winner. Sometimes one simply has to get the job done; and today, Casse did the job.
