On the third and final day of the Tashkent Grand Slam 2024, four of the five gold medals went to the Asian continent, two for Japan, one for China and one for the hosts, Uzbekistan, won in tremendous fashion by former world champion, Muzarffarbek TUROBOYEV.
Despite an array of medals being won by various European nations today, the highlight was most certainly the gold from Theodoros TSELIDIS of Greece, who defeated both Mikhail IGOLNIKOV (AIN) and Ivaylo IVANOV (BUL) with a series of seoi toshis in the semi final and final respectively.
Not only was this a first Grand Slam gold for Tselidis, but his first final on the IJF World Judo Tour, having earned bronze in both Grand Slam and Grand Prix events previously.
