Still only 20 years old, Hidayat HEYDAROV (AZE) continues to impress, this time by taking top spot in the -73kg on the second day of competition at the Junior World Championships being staged in Zagreb, Croatia. Following on from his gold medal winning performance last month at the Junior European Championships in Maribor, Slovenia a month ago, Heydarov showed measured confidence and sound defence as took control of the category. The Azeri managed to collect positive scores (whilst keeping a “clean sheet”) in each of his five contests. His win here moves him closer to his next goal which is a senior world championship title before his assault on the Olympic title. At this stage everything suggests that he is well on course.
