THIRD TERM OF OFFICE

Judo Austria President Martin Poiger re-elected

THIRD TERM OF OFFICE

JUDO AUSTRIA has voted: At the General Assembly in Linz, Martin POIGER, President of the Austrian Judo Federation and General Secretary of the EUROPEAN JUDO UNION, was unanimously confirmed in office for a further four years – until the end of 2028. This is the 47-year-old’s third term in office, having led the national federation since October 2019. The newly elected board includes four-time Olympic participant and two-time European champion Sabrina FILZMOSER as Vice President and two-time Olympic medalist and current world number 2 Michaela POLLERES as Athletes’ Representative.
“I feel honored and privileged. Our declared goal is to continue the Olympic medal series in 2028. In 1984/88, 2004/2008 and 2021/2024, we were successful twice in a row at the Olympics. We have never managed to win a third consecutive medal. We now want to break this law of the series,” emphasized Martin Poiger in his first statement after the election.
The results of the past term of office are quite impressive: Judo Austria has won no fewer than 101 medals at international level since 2021, including 71 in the seniors level, most notably 3 Olympic, 3 World Championships and 3 European Championships medals. The Upper Austria Grand Prix has been part of the IJF World Tour since 2023, and the Junior European Cup takes place in Graz every June.

President: Martin Poiger, Vice-Presidents: Silvia Ehrengruber (Finance), Sabrina Filzmoser, Albert Gmeiner, Hans Peter Zopf; Technical Director: Thomas Stückler, Deputy: Martin Stump, Legal Advisor: Andreas Weinzierl, Athletes’ Representative: Michaela Polleres, Board Members: Karin Dorfinger, Veronika Jakl, Magdalena Krssakova, Renate Wassermann, Roland Poiger, Manfred Reisinger.
