The European Judo Union has made a number of improvements this year, including the introduction of several EJU Tours for all different age groups. Following a successful test event in Venray at the end of 2023, we are pleased to announce that this upcoming weekend will see the EJU Get Together Tour officially begin with the first destination being Velika Gorica, Croatia. It is a new experience for the otherwise well-decorated judo nation to host such a tournament.
This inaugural event will see over 150 judoka from 12 countries in attendance. In support of the city of Velika Gorica, judo will finally and more so officially open its doors to individuals with all abilities. Judo is a sport for all. The tournament will be held at the Gradska sportska dvorana Velika Gorica (City Sports Hall Velika Gorica) and prior, classification and divisioning will take place.
The foremost reason for divisioning can be caught in one word: safety. Judo is a safe sport as long as the opponents are more or less equivalent. To ensure all judoka are matched according to their ability, divisioning via judo mat-based assessments are delivered supporting the safety of all participants.
The expertise and knowledge of the coaches and technical competition organisers collaborate to ensure the levels are acceptable for the well-being of the athletes. The Functional Classification System consists of 5 levels and classifies judoka based on insight, power, speed, will to win and judo capability. For more information around classification and divisioning check out the EJU Adapted Judo Rule book. Consequently, the competition will be conducted in accordance with the EJU Adapted Judo Rules.
Program
Attention: The schedule may be modified according to total number of entries and circumstances of competition. The start of the tournament will be confirmed once the final number of athletes is known.
