HIGH HOPES FOR HOME TEAM

For the second stop on the senior European Tour 2024, we arrive in Warsaw, Poland, a staple location since 2008. It certainly hasn’t lost it’s popularity, with 497 athletes from 39 nations inscribed for the two-day tournament on the 24th and 25th of February.

Competing in the COS Torwar Sports Hall, the home crowd will have plenty to cheer on as the hosts have entered some of their most successful. Unfortunately due to injury, Angelika SZYMANSKA at WRL #9 in the -63kg category has pulled out, however they have many more to offer.

Another in the -63kg category but much further down the ranking at #165 is Natalia KROPSKA (POL) took a medal in the U23 European Championships back in 2020, and had quite a sizeable break before returning to the podium two weeks ago in Gyor, taking the silver medal. Those closer to the top are WRL #26, Adam STODOLSKI (-73kg), #39 Kacper SZCZUROWSKI (+100kg) and #48 Pawel DRZYMAL (-81kg).

Now, aside from the hosts, once again we see the Gyor -100kg finalists, Simeon CATHARINA (NED) and Laurin BOEHLER (AUT) in the line up, as well as France’s Coralie HAYME in the +78kg.

The 39 nations encompass those from around the globe; Mauritius, Cape Verde, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Jamaica, Canada, Vietnam, Indonesia as well as the IJF Refugee Team.

Find out where your favourites will be in the draw which you can watch live at JudoTV.com at 20:00 local time.
