Day two of the Hohhot Grand Prix left some of Europe’s best struggling to make the podium, and those that did had to settle for second or third best as all four of the gold medals on offer went to Asia or Pan-America.
Collecting medals for Europe were Kathrin UNTERWURZACHER (AUT) who won silver in the -63kg category whilst Edwige GWEND (ITA) and Magdalena KRSSAKOVA (AUT) both took bronze medals. In the 70kg category there were bronze medals for Natascha AUSMA (NED) and Barbara MATIC (CRO). In the -73kg category only Denis IARTCEV (RUS) manged to take a medal, whilst in the -81kg category Iartcev’s team mate Alan KHUBETSOV grabbed silver, as the bronze medals were picked up by Aslan LAPPINAGOV (RUS) and CSOKNYAI Laszlo (HUN).
