Alikhan Dzarmotov (RUS) beat Arpad Szakacs from Slovakia and kept the chance open of winning all medals by Russia in the men’s category.
U70kg Italy won another gold medal. On Sunday Valeria Ferrari defeated German Maike Ziech. Ferrari has a great year. She became Italian Cadet Champion obviously but also won top cadet tournaments in Zagreb and Teplice. For Germany it meant the fourth silver medal, a record.
Germany never won 4 silver medals. Only in 2002 Germany had the same number of medals, but than won 1 European title.

Another Russian gold medal. Now Magomedrasul Gashimov (RUS) beat Toma Nikiforov U90kg by ippon.
In the men’s super heavyweight O90kg the last Russian fighter could finish the ultimate record of eight Russian European titles. But Anton Krivobokov (RUS) stepped into the trap of Yakov Mamistvalov (ISR) and was taken over brilliantly. Israel’s 6th ever gold medal. David Mamistvalov won the European U17 title in 2005. Sadness by Krivobokov, but nonetheless great compliments for the Russian team.

O70kg
In the women’s over70kg category Urska Potocnik (SLO) won the first Slovenian European title by winning over Spanish Aroa Martín in an exiting fight. The crowd went nuts after the first gold medal this championship for the host country. For Slovenia the second ever European U17 title, after Lea Murko won in 2005 in Salzburg.
Although Martín finished second in the Spanish championships in January behind Garcia Aguilar, Martín worked towards this Championships with wins in Fuengirola (ESP), Fuenlabrada (ESP) and Coimbra (POR). Martín could have been the first ever winner of the U17 European title for Spain. But the statistic now show three silver medals since 2000, and two gold medals for Slovenia.
