Over 250 judoka from 18 countries are heading to Rijeka to compete at the next edition of the junior European Judo Cup. This generation is well in the middle of their European cup tour with the aim to be part of their selected national team for the European Judo Championships Juniors Tallinn 2024.
In Rijeka, #1 Igor Tsurkan (UKR) will challenge the rest of the -81kg category where the current entry shows to have 29 athlete inscribed in this division. Micaela Sciacovelli (ITA) is the highest ranked in the -52kg, sitting in #2 position on the world ranking. Same goes to Joes Schell (NED) in the -100kg category. Junior world bronze medallist 2023, Nina Simic (CRO) is the host nation’s top ranked judoka with a current #4 place in the -63kg category. Simic won a senior European cup this year already also on home grounds, in Dubrovnik. However, the 19-year-old judoka had not yet won a junior European cup. Could this weekend be it?
A three-day training camp will follow after the tournament. Best of luck to all participants.
