The judo tournament premiere becomes a state event. The political leadership of the Republic of Kosovo has announced its attendance at the opening ceremony of the European Championships Open in Pristina, including the final block. EJU Senior Vice President OTTO KNEITINGER and Kosovo Judo Federation President Agron KUKA will welcome both President Vjosa OSMANI and Sports Minister Hajrulla CEKU from 16:10.
Osmani and Ceku will get to see no less than four fights with national participation in the final block starting at 5 p.m., above all the men’s gold final (-73) between local hero Akil GJAKOVA and the Italian vice world champion Manuel LOMBARDO (5th fight after 5 p.m., live on JUDOTV.COM).
Akil and Nora Gjakova’s parents will also be watching the final fights in the stands, along with cousins from Sweden and Germany. “The stands will be full of familiar faces. We are looking forward to this special moment,” emphasises the Olympic champion.
