On day one of the Gdansk Get Together Tournament 2024, the organisers take the judoka through a series of activities in order to accurately define the categories for the competition day. As well as the generic schedule of accreditation and a weigh in, the individuals are led through a series of movement.
For example, the more able bodied judoka, will demonstrate uchi komi in a way that is more commonly practiced, whereas for those with different abilities, they will perform a less complex series, walking or crawling rather than running. With so many participants, the training was divided, and overseeing the session was EJU Adapted Judo lead, Marina DRASKOVIC, who exaplained,
Each judoka is assessed on their abilities according to their capabilities.
The judoka will be divided according to their levels; 1, 2, VI, juniors and levels 3, 4 and 5.
Following the training for the judoka, there was also an opportunity for coaches to partake in the referee training. It is an exceptional chance for the education to continue, ensuring that all understand the rules as we continue to develop these events.
To follow the Gdansk Get Together Tournament tomorrow, there will be live stream from 09:00 local time on all three tatami.
