In attendance of the EJU Get Together Tour 2024 in Gdansk was the Beijing Olympic gold medallist in the quadruple sculls, Adam KOROL. The former Minister for Tourism and Sport came to witness the hard work and organisation of ADA Fun Judo and the European Judo Union.
Joining for the awarding ceremony, Korol described his impressions of the event;
I am very impressed by the organisation and the work of Ada, what she has achieved with her club and the EJU. I’m proud that I can be here as the representative of the city of Gdansk. You have my promise that there will be more support in this area, and I must say that I am also very impressed with the number of competitors.
As a sportsman, Korol knows the impact that sport can have on an individual, the great success that follows as a reward of gruelling work and sacrifice is a special thing. It was an inspiring message delivered by the Olympic Champion,
I don’t believe we should look at the difference between mainstream or adapted sport, or how the adapted judokas lives are impacted, like it is any different to ourselves. We all have the same feelings in training, sport is sport no matter who you are, you learn patience, hard work and discipline and you have the same feelings when you train, when you succeed, when you lose. I believe that that we need to work more to eliminate this division.
