CADET JUDO TOUR PRESSES ON

Even after the completion of their continental and world championships, the cadet judo circuit shows no signs of slowing down. The tour rolls on, and the next stop is set in Koper, Slovenia, where the next cadet European Judo Cup will unfold in style between 26-27 October. Fresh off a training camp in Latvia, young judoka from around the world are gearing up for this event, which will see nearly 550 athletes from 26 nations competing at the Sports Hall Os Koper.

Among the competitors, some of the sport’s rising stars are set to take the stage. Notably, cadet European bronze medallist 2024 Konstantin DISTEL (GER) leads the charge as the highest ranked athlete across all weight categories. Holding the #4 position in the -81kg division, Distel’s presence brings significant attention to the event. Joining him is his compatriot Jolina REINHOLD (GER) who recently clinched a cadet world bronze medal and currently ranks #5 in the -57kg division.

This event has also attracted participants from overseas, with four non-European nations sending competitors to Slovenia. Australia has sent a sizeable contingent of 11 judoka, continuing the country’s tradition of engagement in the international judo scene while also showcasing the significant development the sport has seen there in recent years.

The event promises not only intense competition but also a valuable learning experience. Following the competition, the traditional three-day training camp will give young judoka a chance to hone their skills and learn from some of the best in their age group.
