MR EGILSON TO LEAD ICELAND JUDO

At the 53rd annual meeting of the Icelandic Judo Federation, held on 3 November 2024, Mr. Gisli F. EGILSON was elected as the new president of the association. He succeeds Jóhann Másson, who stepped down after nearly twelve years of dedicated service due to an illness from which he is currently recovering.

During the congress, Jóhann Másson was honored for his remarkable contributions to Icelandic judo. He was awarded the prestigious gold medal of ÍSÍ and was named honorary chairman of the Federation, becoming only the sixth person to receive this distinction. Additionally, his company, JR, presented him with an inscribed judo grip as a token of gratitude for his tireless work and impactful leadership, which he described as both rewarding and challenging.

The judo community warmly congratulates Mr. Egilson on his election and looks forward to his leadership in steering the Federation into a new era. At the same time, heartfelt wishes go out to Jóhann for a swift and complete recovery. His legacy and support will undoubtedly continue to inspire and guide the Federation as needed.
