Around 500 athletes from 29 nations and four continents will compete this weekend on the tatami of
the Bella Italia village in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
The European Junior Cup in Lignano Sabbiadoro will be the 41st edition of the Tarcento Trophy, organised by the Italian Federation in collaboration with Judo Kuroki, and will begin on April 19 with accreditation, weigh-in, and online draw, the latter commencing at 20:00 local time on JudoTV.com. It will continue on April 20 and 21 with the two-day competition and will conclude with the EJU Training Camp from April 22 to 24.
The event was presented by Event Manager Gianluigi Pugnetti, who specified that,
the organization is proud to have Laura di Toma as the testimonial this year, a former athlete of Judo
Kuroki and now the National Technical Director of Italy and Federal Councillor.
However, as always, the focus of the event will be on the athletes. Italy will be the most represented nation, followed by France and Germany. Six athletes will attempt to replicate their previous victories: Valerio ACCOGLI (ITA), the only winner from the 2022 edition still competing, Gaia STELLA (ITA), Sara CORBO (ITA), Fabrizio ESPOSITO (ITA), Tomas RASKA (CZE), and Aron GABOR (HUN). The organising club will field four athletes: Ilaria COSENZA (-63kg), Anna CORADAZZI (-63kg), Iacopo BARDUS (-81kg),
and Daniel CLOCCHIATTI (-90kg).
Now, the focus shifts to the tatami, where judo will once again triumph, a sport that has become a
reference point in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
