The first day of the Kids Camp, held in conjunction with the European Judo Championships 2025, is officially underway in Budva, Montenegro. Over 250 children from more than 20 nations gathered by the seaside to learn from various experts and champions but most importantly, from one another. Nuno Delgado, EJU Judo for Children Commissioner and the leader of the camp, welcomed everyone with great energy and immediately encouraged participants to learn how to greet each other in their native languages, establishing a spirit of cultural exchange right from the start.

Also present was Kristiina Pekkola, EJU Vice-President, who addressed the group with warm and encouraging words: “I really wish you a lovely three days and I look forward to see you in afternoon at European Championships watching our European heroes in action. They are the best role models for you and maybe you will be one of the heroes in the future. So good luck, have fun and get some new friends.”
Today’s schedule includes a Kata Children Seminar with Monika Piredda, EJU Kata Commissioner, who will explore the principles of judo through various engaging activities. Following that, Larisa Cerić, triple Olympian and world bronze medallist, will share her top tips on competitive judo while demonstrating some of her favourite techniques.
