Italy won all senior categories at the Pordenone Kata Tournament 2024 whilst Poland and Hungary snooped in for a victory or two in the younger groups. The final entry saw 73 couples from 13 countries participating throughout the weekend with the home nation really showing dominance. Apart from a strong line up on the mat, nine judges also successfully completed their examination, adding to the number of EJU judges to be delegated across different tournaments.

There was an additional local victory produced by Siria QUARTIERI – Anna DEMOLA (ITA) when winning the junior Ju No Kata final with a total of 269.0 points. Poland managed to pinch two gold medals too via their youngsters. First, the pair made of Oliwia CICHY – Kevin JEREMIASZ (POL) won the junior Katame No Kata with a grand score of 375.0, whilst Aleksandra RUTKOWSKA – Pola PORCZYNSKA duet won the cadet Nage No Kata event with a total of 224.5 points. Hungary nipped in to claim victory in the junior Nage No Kata event where OSZ Regina – KAMPEL Eszter (HUN) led the country to victory with a sum of 391.0.
Despite the supremacy from the host nation, Pordenone supplied a perfect field to prepare for all upcoming events, including the European Judo Championships Kata 2024 which is due to be held 10-11 June 2024. Not so fast, as the next one up on the tour will be the Reims Kata Tournament 2024 on the 13th of April 2024. As per the new tradition, a kata judge seminar and examination will be held prior to the event.
