Today, on the 18th of October, the International Medical Seminar of the Medical Commission of the European Judo Union (EJU) commenced in Baku. During the opening, the Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Rashad RASULLU, stated that they had applied to the EJU last year with the initiative to hold this seminar and expressed gratitude for the trust shown. He emphasised that the seminar would provide a valuable platform for sports doctors to enhance their knowledge, exchange experiences, and discuss professional medical matters. It was noted that the health of athletes is a top priority for the federation, and efforts to improve medical practices in judo will continue. Thanks were expressed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Azercell Telekom, and Azman Holding for their support in organising the seminar.
Elnur MAMMADOV, Head of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, highlighted the presence of representatives from many countries among the seminar participants and expressed satisfaction with this. He emphasised that the success of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was the result of the dedicated work of professionals.
Envic GALEA, Head of the EJU Medical Commission, expressed his pleasure that the seminar was being held in Baku and noted that this event opened new perspectives for the participants. He highlighted the close cooperation between the AJF and the International Judo Federation and the EJU, noting that the AJF is recognised as a regional center. He also stated that Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in the field of sports.
The two-day seminar will see presentations and discussion from professionals within the field who have an in-depth knowledge of the sport across all levels.
