In the men’s final match the same teams of European Team Championships held in Minsk 2007 were on the tatami. Winner was just like in Minsk, Georgia against France. The French had a great start. In the category -66kg, European Champion Sofiane Milous met David Asumbani who was few month’s earlier the winner of Grand Slam Tournoi de Paris. Milous threw ko-soto-gake, scoring an ippon.
Varlam Liparteliani (GEO) confirmed his quality and good form in his match clashing with bronze Romain Buffet. Liparteliani threw an amazing uchi-mata for an ippon and finally won his gold, but this time with the Georgian men’s team.

French final team: Sofiane Milous (U66kg), Loic Korval (U73kg), Antoine Jeannin (U81kg), Romain Buffet (U90kg), Teddy Riner (+90kg).
Russia had a tight match with Poland. In the category -66kg and -73kg one could see two great fights with many actions. Both fights ended in the golden score.
U66 Alim Gadanov (RUS) scored a yuko against Tomasz Kowalski (POL) and U73 Mansur Isaev (RUS) lost against Polish Tomasz Adamiec by hantai, when all three referees raised their white flags for Adamiec.
Kirill Denisov decided the clash for Russia against Lukasz Kolesnik, who had a very bad day and was rewarded with four penalties due to passivity.
Romania won its last and also their first medal ever in Ludwigshafen in 1977. 33-years later they won the bronze at this European Team Championship.
Romania beat Italy by 3:2. Dan Fasie had a great fight U66, against Elio Verde. Fasie threw Verde o-uchi-gari for an ippon.
