FALLON CUP BRINGS IN OLYMPIC TEAM

FALLON CUP BRINGS IN OLYMPIC TEAM

Yet again, wonderful organisation led to a successful event and the celebration of one of Great Britain’s greatest talents, carrying his legend through to a new generation.

The great champion that was Craig FALLON sadly left us in 2019, however his memory will forever be kept alive by childhood friend, Gavin DAVIES (left). Established in 2022, the Fallon Cup has gathered former and current international judoka, as well as shining stars of the future, who have travelled to Birmingham to take part in this core event in Great Britain, remembering a legend.

The impact Craig Fallon had on so many people was evident and the event could even boast the presence of Great Britains Olympic team who are prepping for their big moment in only two weeks. Chelsie GILES (-52kg), Lele NAIRNE (-57kg), Lucy RENSHALL (-63kg), Katie-Jemima YEATS-BROWN (-70kg) and Emma REID (-78kg) were joined by former European Champion, Gemma HOWELL on the tatami.

Craig Fallon took the title of World Champion in 2005 in Cairo, still the latest British male to have achieved this tremendous accolade, not only that, but he went on to become European Champion the following year in Tampere. However it wasn’t only his results that made him such a memorable person, it was his love for the sport, his beautiful technique and warm character that made this dream, the Fallon Cup, an easy realisation.
