During the Senior European Judo Championships 2025, hundreds of children were present to witness history in the making and see first-hand, the respect and fair play on the tatami. However, it is both with and without a judogi we expect to live by our judo values.
Co-chairs of the Fair Play Commission, Giorgi ATABEGASHVILI and Gabor DEREGAN led activities and promoted the mission of the European Judo Union explaining,
Fair Play reminds us that how we win and how we support others, defines who we are. First of all, we all know that ‘fair play’ is understood as a concept encompassing all human values. Judoka meet the challenges of the communities in which they live, and this in turn reflects the dynamism and diversity of sports activities and organisations as a place for learning and highlighting these values.
Our mission is to encourage, support and campaign for the promotion of ethics in sport to ensure the spirit of fair play prevails both on and off the tatami and in sports organisations to impact the culture and ethics of all society.
