EUROPEAN JUDO KATA TEAMS ARRIVED IN PODCETRTEK 

The European Judo Championships Kata (Juniors & Seniors) will begin tomorrow with the preliminaries scheduled for day one, whilst the finals will be held on Tuesday 13th of June 2023. Both events are located in Podcetrtek, Slovenia. On Wednesday, 14th of June 2023, a Kodokan Seminar will be hosted at the same place. The below program is provisional. The schedule of the contests may be modified according to the total number of entries.

European Judo Championships Kata Seniors 

Each federation may enter up to maximum of 2 couples per each age group of Kata, totalling up to maximum of 4 couples per Kata. The competitors may only participate in one Kata. Couples can be composed of either 2 males, 2 females, or a male and a female. 

There will be five Kata recognized for these championships: 

The IJF Kata “Criteria for Kata Evaluation” will be used to judge the Kata with reference also to the official Kodokan Textbook. 

Participants are to be 18 years of age during 2023 (born in 2005 or before). They shall have a minimum of 1st Dan. Couples may be formed of either 2 males, 2 females, or a male and a female. Each Kata will be divided in 2 age categories according to the age of Tori. The age of Uke has no restrictions.

European Judo Championships Kata Juniors  (Nage-No-Kata, Katame-No-Kata, Ju-No-Kata) 

Each federation may enter up to maximum of 3 couples for each Kata. The competitors can participate only in one Kata. Couples can be composed of either 2 males, 2 females, or a male and a female. 

There will be four categories recognized for this European Championships: 

The IJF Kata “Criteria for Kata Evaluation” will be used to judge the Kata with reference also to the official Kodokan Textbook. The participants may compete only in one of the three Kata. 

Nage-No-Kata: Participants are to be 14 years of age during 2023 (born in 2009 or before). They shall have a minimum of 2nd Kyu. Couples may be formed of either 2 males, 2 females, or a male and a female. 

Katame-No-Kata & Ju-No-Kata: Participants are to be 16 years of age during 2023 (born in 2007 or before) and 23 years of age maximum during 2023 (born in 2000). They shall have a minimum of 2nd Kyu. Couples may be formed of either 2 males, 2 females, or a male and a female.

Enbu Judo 

The ENBU Judo is a technical confrontation of fight simulation containing techniques of judo and self-defence. Each Team can be composed of 2 to 6 competitors. Participants are to be 16 years of age during 2023 (born in 2007 or before). They shall have a minimum of 1st Kyu. The team may be formed of males and/or females. Minimum number of teams to run the competition is five at the numerical inscriptions.
