European Championships Declared Open

The Senior European Judo Championships 2025 is officially declared open!

Following some beautiful celebrations on the tatami, traditional dancing and a kata demonstration from children, initiating the speeches was the President of the Montenegro Judo Federation, President Jovica RECEVIC,

Distinguished guests, dear athletes, coaches, friends of judo, President of the European Judo Union, Dr. Toth, Minister of Sports, Mr. Šćekić. To begin with, we would like to welcome Europe, which we have brought to Montenegro and Podgorica, to the European Judo Championships Seniors 2025! Welcome! It is a great honor for us to host such an important sporting event and to have the opportunity to welcome the best European judokas right here – in the Morača Sports Center, a symbol of Montenegrin sports.

Judo is much more than a martial art – it embodies discipline, respect, strength of will and character. These are, at the same time, the values ​​that Montenegro recognises and lives by. I wish all competitors a fair and successful performance, hoping that the guests will take home only the best impressions from our country. May sport and unity prevail!

After a round of applause from the crowd, President of the European Judo Union, Dr TOTH Laszlo briefly addressed the whole arena.

Dear distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, judo family, boys and girls, on behalf of the European Judo Union, I welcome you to the Senior European Judo Championships 2025 in Podgorica. I would like to give special thanks to all of you, to the people of Montenegro, the Montenegro Judo Federation, European Judo Union team and of course all of the sponsors who have supported our idea.

Three years ago, no one believed we would have this beautiful celebration, but we have taken this trip together and now we can be happy we are here. Congratulations to you all.
