EJU PRESIDENT VISITS IJF ACADEMY

The IJF Academy has been a cornerstone of judo education for several years, consistently refining the expertise of coaches across the globe. Under the leadership of a dedicated team, the institution has expanded its reach, ensuring that technical proficiency remains at the highest level. To date, the academy boasts a remarkable 3,000 graduates from 170 nations, each contributing to the sport’s development in their respective regions.

This week, the Academy’s latest level 2 course is underway in Dunavarsány, Hungary, welcoming 19 participants from 11 countries. The program is led by esteemed instructors Florin Daniel Lascau, Mark Huizinga and Slaviša Bradić. Additionally, Envic Galea, Chairman of the IJF Academy, and Dr. Kozsla Tibor, Head of the institution are present, ensuring that the course meets the highest educational standards. The program is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, 23 March.

On Wednesday 19 March, the participants received a welcome visit from Dr Tóth László, President of the European Judo Union. Stepping onto the mat, he observed the sessions firsthand, offering support and acknowledging the academy’s pivotal role in the sport. Dr. Tóth praised the cooperation and quality of education provided, emphasising the academy’s significant contribution to coaching development. He also commended the excellent conditions available in Dunavarsány, affirming that the partnership will continue to thrive.

To qualify for Level 2, participants must achieve a minimum of 80% in Level 1, demonstrating mastery of 100 Kodokan techniques and Nage-no-Kata. The first level serves as a foundation in fundamental judo skills, while the second tier focuses on refining instructional methods for high-performance training. Throughout the course, candidates are required to exhibit proficiency in both theory and practice, ensuring their readiness to mentor the next generation of judoka.

The IJF Academy remains committed to enhancing the global standard of coaching, supporting instructors with the knowledge and skills necessary to shape judoka from grassroots levels to elite athletes and promote judo worldwide.
