The tradition of judo in Dubrovnik have big history. In city of waterpolo and home of gold Olympic medalists, judo succeed to create quite long history since 1966. City of Dubrovnik hosted already in 1990, now very popular to us, one of the first European Team Championships while seven years later Dubrovnik was the centre of Military World. In 1997 it was World Military Championships. Today they are again on European map, as they will gather around 200 competitors from 18 different countries which is big success for the first European Senior Cup ever!
For this special occasion Croatian Judo Federation hosted today press conference in one of their official hotels.
This was very successful season for Karla Prodan, current World Cadet Champion, European and EYOF bronze medalist. Karla this is totally different age category, what do you expect this weekend at European Cup?
I did very well at the cadets level this year, but this is senior level and it’s one of the biggest challenge for me so far. I hope so I will have good fights here in Dubrovnik and show all of my best.
After IJF Grand Prix in Zagreb, CJF hosts another big event…
Before I start, I would like to thank to the City of Dubrovnik and technical organisers JC Dubrovnik 1966. Yes, we have olympic qualification tournament in Zagreb and European Cadet Cup, but this is another significant and big event in Croatia, as federation we are very satisfied with the participation of 18 different countries and by this I would like to congratulate to the organizers for great work. – General Secretary of CJF, Hrvoje Lindi said.
“Everybody in Dubrovnik is very excited and can’t wait that the tournament kicks off, it’s our pleasure to host 200 competitors from 18 different countries. I’m quite sure that everybody worked hard to make this competition on level and there is no reason that you don’t come this weekend in the sports hall.” – Stjepo Roko said, 20 year old judoka who will have his debut in his home city.
