Today was the first day of the Fuengirola Cadet European Cup and although France lead in the standings, the host nation, Spain, are right behind with three gold medals, one silver and five bronze.
One of those gold medallists defended her win in this same event in 2022, Aitana DIAZ HERNANDEZ (ESP) in the -48kg category. Talking of her win today, Diaz was of course happy with her result in front of the home crowd,
I am very well, I had a lot of emotion to win this competition again and I had a lot of support from my family and team mates from Valencia, they helped me a lot. Right now I have a lot of confidence in myself, but it is true that I have to continue to train to do my best in Zagreb.
Her sights are set high for the upcoming year and she is off to a tremendous start,
This year first I want to qualify for the classification for the cadet world championships and then compete in some junior events as well and perhaps qualify for that too.
