Whilst there was much to celebrate in Dushanbe, Croatia also had a successful first day at the Junior European Cup in Prague as Karla KULIC (-70kg) added another gold medal to the collection. Following her victory, a short interview was conducted.
Which of your contests was the toughest one for you?
I think the hardest fight was the one with the Ukrainian opponent, Maria Rytska. The final was not so difficult.
What is your next goal?
I really want to be successful at the European Junior Championships. The tournament in Prague is one of the toughest I have ever won. It has become a great motivation for me on my way to success.
How are you preparing for the European Championships?
My sparring partner is Barbara Matic, who is also a great role model for me. In addition to that, I train twice a week with Lara Cvjetko and I often meet the current medallists from Dushanbe, Katarina Kristo and Iva Oberan.
What do you think about the level of Croatian judo today?
These results show a very high level of women’s judo in Croatia. Training together definitely helps to achieve great sporting results.
