The European Judo Family is looking forward to restart the calendar and is carefully weighing in all possibilities. The EJU COVID-19 Task Force team was created, comprising members from all departments under the lead of EJU President Sergey Soloveychik. It observes and discusses the current development in Europe on a weekly basis. The safety of athletes is of utmost importance, and therefore the following applies:
EJU events can only take place, if 2 weeks before the event, the 14-day cumulative number of infections per 100.000 inhabitants in the organising country is below 20 (Reference: European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control). If this criterion is not met, the event will be cancelled.
Therefore it was decided to not restart the following two events:
* 12 – 13 September Cadet European Judo Cup ROU Cluj-Napoca
* 12 – 13 September Junior European Judo Cup BIH Sarajevo
The Cadet European Judo Cup in Teplice (CZE) from 19 – 20 September is planned and the outlines are already published. The EJU calendar 2020 (PDF) has been updated.
The EJU is optimistic that at least some of the events in autumn will take place. To help organisers, the EJU Medical Commission provides regulations for organisers, participants and spectators. These guidelines are lead by relevant national health regulations. This document will be permanently updated.
The EJU President Sergey Soloveychik said:
“Together with IJF the EJU is doing everything possible to resume our calendar. Organisation of judo events is very important for us and we will take care of our athletes and judo family. I am very thankful to our EJU Team and National federations for constant analysis and work, for remaining active and devoted to our judo spirit and values.”
