The practice of judo is very important in our day-to-day school life. All the values we are taught, from the sincerity, ethics, respect and dignity of the human being come through the practice of the modality. Practicing sports at school is really a great experience of life. It is very important to know how to win but also to learn how to lose as it happens in our daily life. Signing this Protocol, once again shows, that the Ministry of Education and other educators have glass walls, transparent and where we cover various skills. “

Press conference

The Federation has already carried out 10 training actions credited throughout the country for Physical Education and School Sports teachers, with the aim of encouraging and including the teaching and dissemination of Judo in their schools.

These actions involved about 200 teachers from the most varied regions of the country, guided by Prof.a. Dr. Ágata Aranha, Prof. Doctor José Mário Cachada (National Officer for the Judo at School Project), Professor José Eiró and Professor Carlos Santos.

The President of the Portuguese Judo Federation, Eng. José Manuel A. Costa e Oliveira considers “very important the signing of this Protocol that will take the practice of judo to schools with more regularity. The fact that we had two Olympic medals – Nuno Delgado and Telma Monteiro – also allowed our modality to grow. The slogan – JUDO MORE THAN SPORT – really shows what our sport represents and what our values are. Today is a particularly important day for our federation and for Portuguese judo. Today’s demonstration showed the effort and dedication of teachers and the commitment of young people to learning the sport. The presence in the School Sport program will allow a strong development at all levels. Starting today Judo will have a different and very positive visibility ”
