At the second day of the Junior European Cup in St. Petersburg Japan took over the lead of the the Russian team and was superior with its junior team.
During the second day of competition there were 8 numbers of awards: 81,90,100 and +100 kg-boys and 44,48,52 and 57 – girls. Team of Japan got the most number of gold medals today claiming five gold medals. The second place is for Russian team taking 16 medals (1-4-11), the third place is for team of Brazil: (1-2-1).
Among 19 champions and medalists of the European Cup 2012 – 10 persons took part in final block of the European Cup 2013. In final match of 81 kg were the same athletes: Khasan Khalmurzaev and Aslan Lappinagov. This year Lappinagov won.
In total Japan team won 12 medals but won eight finals 12(8-2-2), Russia led on Saturday but list a few finals on Sunday but ended with 28 medals (4-7-17).
EJU Sports Director Wieslaw Blach said: “I’m here for the second time in St-Petersburg. It is a very good level this year. The first team of Brazil came, the team of Japan and Kazakhstan. I think it is the strongest European Cup of Judo Juniors. I like the organisation of this tournament.”
