A SUCCESSFUL TEST OF THE NEW RULES

A SUCCESSFUL TEST OF THE NEW RULES

Between 27-29 December, Georgia hosted its National Judo Championships, serving as an important testing ground for the new rules set to be implemented in international competitions starting next year. The event was marked by dynamic and engaging contests, reflecting the positive impact of the updated regulations. The championship provided an ideal platform for both athletes and officials to familiarise themselves with the changes, ensuring a smoother transition to the global stage in 2025.

First Vice President of the Georgian Judo Federation, Mr David KEVKHISHVILI, shared his thoughts on the successful event:

Over the past three days, we held our national championship, where we used the new rules. Except for Yuko, all rules were taken into account. I would like to share that everything turned out perfectly. The new rules brought more dynamics to the flow of the contests and gave freedom to the judoka. In short, in our opinion, 2025 will be quite an interesting year in terms of the spectacular aspect of judo.

Special recognition was given to EJU Head Referee Director, Mr Alexandr JATSKEVITCH, who served as the head referee during the championship. His professionalism and expertise ensured that the new rules are understood and implemented accurately. The Georgian Judo Federation further expressed gratitude to all participants, officials, and supporters for their contributions to the championship’s success, looking forward to a dynamic and thrilling year ahead in the world of judo.
