The European Judo Union (EJU), in collaboration with the University of Seville, proudly unveils a pioneering initiative in school safety: the book Safe Fall-Safe Schools (SFSS) – Level I. Research Protocol. This innovative publication bridges judo expertise and modern research to proactively address unintentional falls in schools, aiming to create safer educational environments for children.
This initiative highlights a proactive approach to preventing injuries caused by falls, a common hazard in schools, by equipping students, teachers, and communities with safe falling techniques rooted in judo ukemis (controlled falls). Spearheaded by Óscar del Castillo Andrés, this program also integrates essential judo principles such as self-control, prevention and respect, with state-of-the-art technology. The result is a practical, accessible tool designed to minimise injuries while fostering a culture of safety and resilience in schools.
