FINANCIAL OPERATIONS MOVE TO MALTA

Following the 76th Ordinary Congress of the European Judo Union, it was announced that after a two-year period in Vienna, the Executive Committee decided that with effect 1 January 2025, the Financial Matters and accounting will be transferred to Malta so that they can be under the direct scrutiny of the General Treasurer, Mr Envic GALEA.

Galea has served in the Executive Committee of the EJU from 1991 to 2016 and held posts as Assistant General Secretary, Head Sports Director, Vice President of Education, and General Secretary from 2004 to 2016. During this period, specifically 2010, Galea obtained a special status for the EJU Registered in Malta as tax-free organisation.

In 2022, Galea was invited to rejoin the new Executive committee presided over by Otto KNEITINGER for a short while and then during the Extraordinary General Meeting in Vienna, was elected General Treasurer, substituting Laszlo TOTH, who was elected the new president of the EJU. In this time, EJU registration was transferred from Malta to Austria and accounting was transferred to Vienna and the EJU Head Office.

In accordance with the transition, the new Malta Accounting team will be Chris ATTARD CFO, Cleaven ATTARD, Accounts Manager, Alexis MILNE, Accounts payable, the auditors will remain Crowe SOT GmbH of Vienna under the leadership of Dr Anton SCHMIDL.
