CYRIL PAGÈS, PILLAR OF FRENCH PARA-JUDO PASSED AWAY

The world of French para-judo is in mourning following the passing of Cyril Pagès, a prominent coach and former elite judoka. Pagès had dedicated himself to para judo after a distinguished judo career, transitioning following the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

“France Judo learned of Cyril Pagès’ passing with great sadness,” the federation announced in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and stand in solidarity with his loved ones. Thank you for everything, Cyril; we will never forget you.”

Pagès’ guidance was instrumental during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where he stood alongside his athletes in a remarkable showing that brought home four medals for France. Among these were Cyril Jonard’s bronze and Helios Latchoumanaya’s silver, achievements that stand as a testament to Pagès’ unwavering commitment and the deep connection he shared with his athletes.

Cyril Pagès’ influence extended well beyond the mat; he was a mentor, role model, and beloved figure who left a profound legacy in para-sport.
