- There are actually 2 Georgian judoka competing in the -81kg category. Tato Grigalashvili and Nugzari Tatalashvili. The latter will represent the United Arab Emirates.
- Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA) was the only gold medallist for Team France in judo at the Tokyo Olympics. As Team France won the mixed team competition, she is the only judoka to have won 2 Olympic gold medals at one Summer Games.
- The first ever Olympic champion in the -63kg (then -61kg) category was a Frenchwoman, Catherine Fleury.
- The last European to win gold in the -81kg category was Khasan Khalmurzaev at Rio 2016.
- Ketleyn Quadros (BRA) won bronze in the -57kg category at Beijing 2008. 16 years later, at the age of 36, she qualified for her 3rd Olympic Games at a higher weight.
- Renata Zachova (CZE) made history this year by becoming the first ever female European Champion from Czechia.
Judo made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games in 1964, and Paris 2024 will mark its 60th anniversary as an Olympic sport.
