Olympic Day is celebrated annually on June 23rd to mark the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin. This day promotes the ideals of the Olympic Movement, encouraging participation in sports and physical activity worldwide.
Many countries organize fun runs, races, and other sporting events open to all ages and skill levels. These events encourage people to be active and embrace a healthy lifestyle. The annual Judo Festival is a perfect reflection of the promotion of Olympic Day. For one day, the city of Porec and the rest of the world will be immersed in the Olympic spirit.
Each year a theme is coined for the commemorative day. The theme of this year’s Olympic Day is ‘Let’s Move and Celebrate’ to inspire and encourage people to embrace the joy of movement this summer.
The Olympic Day furthermore serves as a powerful reminder of the unifying power of sport. It encourages people to lead active lives, fosters community spirit, and promotes the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect. By participating in Olympic Day activities, individuals can contribute to a global movement that celebrates health, unity, and the joy of sport.
