Austria has accomplished a handful of good results and three medals at the PJC World Cup in Miami this week. Austrian Champion Georg Reiter won gold defeating Denilson Lourenco of Brazil in the final U66kg. Reiter won his first ever World Cup. His compatriot Matthias Huemer lost the final U60kg against Diego Santos.
In the women’s category Tina Zeltner (AUT) reached the final U57kg but lost her bout against Hana Carmichael (USA).
Sweden’s Emil Edmar won a silver medal U81kg. He lost the final against Argentine Emmanuel Lucenti.
Great Britain and Russia won a silver medal too. Sergey Kozel (RUS) lost the final U90kg against Asley Gonzalez (CUB) and Louise Renicks won a silver medal U52kg but lost the final against the strong Yanet Bermoy (CUB).
Overall Cuba was the great winner claiming nine gold medals and 11 in total. Host nation United States won 15 medals, but only 5 final places, winning two gold medals.
Argentina equaled the medals of future Olympic power Brazil winning gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Last year Cuba didn’t participate and Brazil won the medal table.
