Preparations for the European Judo Championships Seniors in ZAGREB (CRO, 25 – 28 April 2024) are entering the hot phase. From Sunday to Tuesday, a six-member EJU delegation, led by Head Sport Director Caterina RODRIGUES and Sport Director Urska ZOLNIR JUGOVAR, will be visiting the Croatian capital. The ten-persons strong organising team is chaired by EJU Vice President and CJF General Secretary Hrvoje LINDI.
The site visit of the Arena Zagreb took place on Monday morning. Other items on the programme: Inspection visits to the partner hotels and a coordination meeting at the Croatian Judo Federation (CJF).
A few facts about Zagreb 2024:
- It’s the first European Judo Championships Seniors that will be held in Croatia.
- On the first three day’s the individual 14 categories (7 female/7 male) will be held, on Sunday the Mixed Team event will take place.
- The results of the European Judo Championships Seniors count 100 percent for the Olympic qualification rankings.

- The Zagreb Arena holds a maximum (sports) capacity of 15,200 spectators. The hall was built in 2008 for the Handball Worldchampionships in Croatia.
- During the European Judo Championships Seniors 2024 a KIDS CAMP for judoka between 8 – 15 years of age will be held. Last year they had about 600 participants, this year up to 1.000 kids are expected. Olympians – such as Rustam ORUJOV (AZE) – will act as coaches.
