ANOTHER THREE OPTIONS

The road to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been explained in detail, however, to get to the Paralympics, the route has not. The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will take place between 28 August to 8 September 2024. Judo will run 5-7 September at the Champ-de-Mars Arena. There will be 8 men and 8 women medal events by the following arrangements;

J1 refers to blind judoka and their division signalled by a red circle on the backnumber of the judogi. J2 refers to all visual impaired judoka. The categories J1 and J2 do not compete against each other unless there are not enough athletes to fulfil 2 separate medal events. In that case it is possible to deviate from this in mutual consultation.

There is a total of 148 quota up for grab: 62 male, 56 female and 30 gender free. The qualification system as follows;

Now, unlike the Olympic racers, these judoka only have a little over a dozen tournaments to qualify. With that, their final chances in qualifying are closing down to 2-3 events.

  2. Grand Prix Antalya TUR (expected) April 1-2
  3. Grand Prix  Tbilisi GEO* May 18-19 (*to be confirmed)

Currently, there are four European judoka claiming top spot on the IBSA Paralympic Ranking List.
