The roads are getting cleared of the heavy snow in the heart of Mittersill. The heater is now turned on at the dojo and the tea is brewing in the hallway. The town is ready to welcome the judo world for their annual Olympic Training Camp.
The President of the National Judo Federation of Austria, Mr. Martin POIGER welcomes you all at this popular sport destination;
On behalf of Judo Austria, we are very proud to have so many top athletes in the beautiful city of Mittersill, preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris. This year, we celebrate 30 years of Mittersill training camp. I would like to thank, especially, to Ali Gmeiner who is the main person behind this camp since 1994 and together with the organising team of Judo Austria, he is doing the best to provide great training possibilities and having high number of participants every year shows that we, as a team, do quite well with this camp.
I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Mayor of Mittersill, Wolfgang Viertler, and the whole region for the amazing partnership. Without the support of the city, the region, the tourist board and almost 50 hotels, apartment houses, we would not be able to hold this camp.
The training camp will begin with the registrations on Sunday, 7th January 2024 with the following provisional schedule below. By the evening, the majority will gather and will be ready for the first bout Monday morning.
