On the 5th and 6th of October we have presented the Safe Fall-Safe Schools project at the EU-Safety 2023, 11th European Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion. Our aim was supported at the opening conference by the President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, and the Icelandic Minister of Health (Willum Þór Þórsson). The Icelandic Prime Minister has said that,
… injuries caused by unintentional falls are one of the most important challenges in our society in relation to the safety of the population.
We fully agree with this statement.
Very important have been the contacts established with other organisations working on European leadership in research, policy and practice in the field of accident and injury prevention (FIFA 11+, ROSPA,…).
In this scientific forum, it has been of great value to present the Safe Fall-Safe Schools project and its great possibilities in relation to safety and improving the quality of life of our children, an objective that brings us closer to the demands of the World Health Organisation.
We would like to thank the European Judo Junion and the University of Seville for the great work they are doing on this great social challenge that gives meaning to the motto Judo More than a Sport.
