EJU President, Dr László TÓTH went to Maribor on Wednesday to personally thank Maribor mayor Aleksander Saša ARSENOVIČ on the occasion of the European Youth Olympic Festival in July. During the visit, the European Judo Union donated 500 judogi for children and 300 m2 of tatami puzzle to help the development of judo in Maribor region and Slovenia in general as a result of organising several events in Slovenia during the year.
We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to help our members with the donation of equipment. Two months ago, Maribor hosted the EYOF, where we also had the opportunity to watch judo, so we are extremely glad that we were able to give something in return after the successfully held festival in Slovenia.
We remind you that mayor Arsenovič in July was quite active during EYOF when he was the driver for some of the delegates. During the meeting in Maribor there was also present President of the Slovenia Judo Federation Lovrencij GALUF and SJF General Secretary Franc OČKO.
2023 EYOF in Maribor was, for seven days, home for National teams that arrived from 48 different countries. European Olympic Committies have for quite a long time recognised the importance of organising such multi-sport events, now in collaboration with Slovenian Olympic Committee they organised another one in a row.
