The next EJU Kata tournament will take place in Laon, France this Saturday, 15th of April 2023. Participants of this event will be 16 and over, and will have the opportunity to showcase their demonstrations across 5 recognized categories for this tournament:
- Nage-no-Kata
- Katame-no-Kata
- Ju-no-Kata
- Kime-no-Kata
- Kodokan Goshin-jutsu

Dear judokas and judo enthusiasts,
As the president of the French Judo Federation, I am delighted to see this prestigious event taking place on our territory and I would like to congratulate all the participants who have worked hard to get there.
Kata is an essential aspect of judo and a martial art in its own right. It is a demanding discipline that requires a lot of rigor and concentration, but also brings many satisfactions and great pride. That is why I want to salute all the competitors who have chosen to take up this challenge and participate in this tournament.
I am convinced that this event will be a unique opportunity for all judokas across Europe to meet, exchange, and share their passion for Kata. I wish you all an excellent tournament and I am sure that you will proudly represent your respective countries.

During this one-day event, the top three pairs with the maximum points in each Kata will be awarded. The total of 84 competitors from 10 different countries are heading to the city of Laon for the weekend. Evidently, France is leading with the number of entries whilst Belgium and the Netherlands follows behind with equally eight members each. The draw will take place on the day of the tournament at 09:00 CET. Good luck to all participants!
