This week the EJU Moral Code Cartoon will demonstrate ‘modesty’ with the new video online.
At the very heart of everything we do, we live the judo code. Modesty is a great example of having strength of character, it can also be described as ‘humility’. It is a quiet confidence without extreme behaviour or arrogance. We see it at the end of each contest in judo with celebrations muted out of respect for the opponent as well as the bow and shaking of hands. It is one thing to be a winner, but another to be a champion, and modesty can make all the difference.
This cartoon series is a user friendly way to communicate the meaning of each of the values; courtesy, courage, friendship, sincerity, honour, modesty, respect or self-control. It will be released every week and can be used by clubs, coaches, parents and of course athletes. Rather than a document or poster, this is a fun way to learn about our sport.
You can also check out the previously published cartoons in the YouTube playlist.
