Guidelines for Photographers
General Rules
Please upload only edited images in very good quality and only a selection of your best images. Take care to present an even mix of male and female athletes as well as different nationalities (not only the host country). Keep in touch with the event Communications Manager to coordinate your tasks.
Equipment
Please check if the clock and time zone is correct on your camera. If you are using Lightroom (or similar software) please take care that you keep ALL metadata.
Requirements:
Format: only landscape, minimum 3.000 px (240dpi)
Draw – maximum 10 images (focus on the coaches, and the speakers)
Warm up – maximum 10 images per day
Venue – maximum 5 images in total
Podium – medallists, with and without VIP, as well as individual portraits
Notes: You are the main photographer on spot. Find the central position and give signals to the athletes that they have to look to your camera. Do not hesitate to request assistance from colleagues on spot to instruct athletes prior to entering the podium.
Action pictures – maximum of 30-50 elimination images per day, the goal is to capture all nations and serve our member federations with focus on final block, ONLY THE BEST PICTURES!
Final block – minimum of 2 images of all gold medallists, also images of coaches
Images of VIP (EJU and LOC)
Sponsors – 5 clear images of each EJU sponsors.
Tagging
After you have uploaded images, please use and combine the following tags:
European Cups, European Opens: Day 1, Day 2, Draw, Warm-Up, Venue, Preliminary Round, Final Block, Podium, Weight Class (-48kg, …), VIP, Staff etc.
Championships: also the weight class (-60 kg, +100 kg, …)

Do’s
- We need a mix of close-ups, techniques and winning points.
- We want to see emotions not only techniques.
- Crop the photos trying to highlight the action/emotion.
- Better close-ups than uninteresting action images.
- Don‘t forget to check brightness, contrast and white balance.
Dont’s
- Don’t use filters
- No crooked photos
- No action
- No faces
- No focus
- Don’t cut feet, arms, hands, shoulders
- Too far away
- No duplicates
